Grace Community Church  participates with:

Grace Community Church has participated with Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child for several years. It’s wonderful to pack a shoebox for a child whom you've never met. Plan now to participate and show Christian love and concern for children who have never heard the Gospel. Each shoebox is filled for a girl or boy in one of 3 age categories. Each box also has a Gospel tract in the appropriate language.

Suggestions:

bullet

Plastic shoeboxes - these are reused to carry water, usually $1 a box.

bullet

LAYS chips in a plastic stack container. These can hold pencil/ paper and can be later used for water.

bullet

Tennis ball containers - fill with hard candies, no chocolate or anything that melts. Pringles cans can be used, but they won't hold water.

bullet

Inexpensive flip flops - on sale at summer sales NOW.

bullet

Small UMBRELLAS - I read in an OCC report that umbrellas are very useful to shield the children from rain AND sun. One little girl said that this was her most prized item. Available at dollar stores.

bullet

T-shirt, underwear, shorts. NO WINTER ITEMS.

bullet School supplies are at such a bargain now, stock up on extra paper, pencils, pencil sharpeners, colored pencils – everything except scissors.

Samaritan's Purse does more than ship shoeboxes to children in 3rd world countries. Read this true story about a Hurricane Katrina victim from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Employee News.
